How to be romantic: 5 Tips

Wouldn't life be wonderful if all of our relationships had happy, romantic endings (or maybe beginnings), where the guy sweeps the girl off of her feet with a breathtaking kiss in the middle of a New York City street?

Okay, it sounds a little like the ending to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but what keeps us from living those mushy-in-love moments? Could it be too many dinner-and-a-movie first dates? If so, it's time to get in touch with your romantic side and create dates worth remembering.

Whether it's a first date or a fifth date, here are five ways to spur your dating creativity and make your object of desire swoon:

1. Be unique

Guys, if you're planning the first date, the key is not to bring your love interest to the same restaurant where you've taken your last four dates. Make it more about the experience. Take her to the hot, new restaurant in town or experience a new food for the first time together.

2. Two words: Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate has a higher percentage of cocoa and phenylethylamine - a chemical that mimics the feeling you have when you are in love.

3. Ban the peck

Replace the innocent, no-effort lip graze with a 10-second smooch (although first dates may want to save this move for last). And make every kiss one to remember.

Hint: Make sure your breath is fresh so the kiss goes off without a hitch.

4. Replace the grunge-wear

Planning on relaxing with the latest DVD rental? Ladies, think twice before changing into your lounging-on-the-couch ensemble. You know, the sweatpants and oversized T-shirt. Slip into something a little more comfortable — but a lot more cuddle-enticing. For a casual yet irresistible look, pair a fitted T-shirt with your favorite perfectly worn-out blue jeans.

5. Transform dinner into dining

There's nothing wrong with staying home and sharing a pepperoni pizza. But be sure to set a romantic scene. To transform the evening, pull out your nicest dishes, light some candles, stick a bouquet of daisies in the center of the table, lower the lights and turn up your favorite CD.
